Bust of Firefighter Goran Komlenac / Author: Academic Sculptor Lovre Jakšić

- the bust of firefighter Goran Komlenac is a portrait sculpture crafted from white Brač stone and mounted in the park of Antun Masle Primary School in Orašac, near Dubrovnik. It is one of the many monumental works by our academic sculptor Lovre Jakšić for public spaces. The creation of this stone bust followed a meticulous sculptural process. It began with a clay model sculpted in life-size proportions, capturing the subject’s likeness with great attention. From the clay, a plaster mould was created, followed by a plaster model used as a reference for stone carving. Using the traditional pointing technique, every detail of the portrait was transferred from plaster to Brač stone, resulting in a faithful and expressive portrait in stone. This portait sculpture is remarkable for the detailed rendering of the firefighter’s uniform, equipment, and facial expression – a calm and determined look that reflects the dignity of the man it commemorates. The spomenik is mounted on a solid stone pedestal, also crafted from white Brač stone, harmoniously integrated into the landscaped setting of the school park. This stone sculpture is not only a work of art but a permanent symbol of respect – a spomenik in white Brač stone dedicated to a hero.
