Tomb for the Gligora Family
- the Jakšić Stonemasonry Workshop proudly presents the tomb for the Gligora family, located in Kolan on the island of Pag. This work, with its simplicity and elegance, showcases the power of thoughtful design and masterful craftsmanship in white Brač stone. The entire surface of the tomb is finished with a fine martelina texture – a traditional hand-chiselling technique that gives the stone a subtle tactile quality and refined appearance. This finish allows light to reflect softly, giving the tomb a serene and dignified presence. The main design feature is a graceful, gently raised line that symbolises resurrection and spiritual ascent. At this very point lies a cross made of dark glass – a minimalist, contemporary detail that brings lightness and a quiet sense of spirituality. To achieve visual balance, a stainless-steel vase has been placed on the opposite side, its clean and simple form perfectly complementing the composition. The entire tomb is made of only two large pieces of stone, avoiding unnecessary joints and divisions, highlighting both precision and the monolithic character of the work. A particularly striking detail is the name inscription, carved as if handwritten – modern, refined, and deeply personal. This element brings emotion and individuality, while the whole design blends traditional stone craftsmanship with a contemporary aesthetic. The design was created by Dražen Jakšić, whose signature style is evident in every detail – balancing material and light, weight and elegance, tradition and modernity. The Gligora family tomb stands as a lasting symbol of craftsmanship, reverence, and timeless faith expressed through white Brač stone.
