Two Stone Villas by the Lake near Vienna / Architect Franz Kiener

- on the tranquil shores of a lake near Vienna stand two connected villas belonging to a distinguished Austrian family, designed by architect Franz Kiener. This project beautifully illustrates how Brač stone in interior design can become a defining architectural and aesthetic element. It merges modern architecture with stone and the timeless elegance of natural materials, creating a harmonious balance of luxury, simplicity, and refined craftsmanship. All stonemasonry works were executed by our workshop, under the expert guidance of Dražen Jakšić, from the conceptual design to the final installation. Stone is present in nearly every part of the residence — floors, walls, fireplaces, and bathrooms — reflecting our belief that natural stone for interior and exterior is not merely a material, but a way of shaping space and atmosphere. Inside, the villas reveal a sophisticated aesthetic defined by stone claddings and stone floors. In three bathrooms, stone has been used for floorswallsbathtub surrounds, and stone washbasins. Each washbasin is handcrafted and unique: one features a round, minimalist form with soft edges; another is sculpted into a massive stone block with a deep inset; and the third is contemporary and geometric, refined in its simplicity. These elements combine elegance and function, making the stone interior both modern and timeless. In the living area, a stone-clad fireplace dominates the space, its polished white surface reflecting light and warmth. A second fireplace, in a more private room, echoes the same refined lines and understated luxury. The staircase, composed of massive stone steps, appears light and floating thanks to its precise execution and finely honed surface. Outside, a stone bench and stone column seamlessly connect the interior with the natural surroundings, completing the architectural composition. These villas demonstrate that luxury stone interiors do not depend on excess, but on the mastery of detail and respect for material. The quality and precision of our workshop’s craftsmanship have been recognised beyond Croatia’s borders, confirming Brač stone’s reputation as one of the most esteemed materials in contemporary European architecture.
