In our stone workshop, we are currently working on the creation of a tomb made from white Brač limestone destined for Mirogoj Cemetery in Zagreb.
This project demonstrates the full beauty and precision of stone shaping – from the first cut to the final profile.
The photographs show the stage of test assembly, which we always carry out before final installation. This allows the client to see the full tomb in actual scale, confirm all details, and experience the harmony of proportions and form. It also allows us to carefully check every joint, profile, and surface – everything must fit perfectly.
The stone we use comes from the island of Brač. Its warm, light tone and fine texture make it ideal for projects like this. The surfaces are finely polished, the edges precisely carved. Stone profiles alternate between straight and curved lines, creating contrast and balance. The lower sections are massive and stable, while the upper parts appear lighter and more refined – together forming a sense of calm and permanence.
One of the images shows the drawing of the future stone figure, which will be the central element of the tomb. The figure will complete the composition and give it an artistic identity. Such work requires experience, patience, and a deep understanding of stone – a material that rewards precision and respect.
This tomb made from Brač limestone combines traditional craftsmanship with modern precision. Classical forms are interpreted with contemporary accuracy, resulting in perfect harmony both technically and aesthetically. The tomb making process is still ongoing, but even now it’s clear how much attention we devote to each detail – every line, every edge, every profile is a testament to long experience and love for stone artistry.
