Grooved Stone Façade and Stone Details in Contemporary Architecture

In the town of Sutivan on the island of Brač, our Jakšić workshop has recently completed extensive stonework on a contemporary villa designed by architect Vinko Peračić. The villa, owned by a private international investor, stands out for its architectural elegance and refined minimalist style. A key feature of the project is the innovative grooved stone façade — a distinctive type of stone façade cladding developed and crafted exclusively in our workshop.

Grooved façade – a modern interpretation of Brač stone

This façade type is defined by longitudinal grooves precisely carved into white Brač stone. These lines create a rich relief that changes throughout the day, producing a dynamic play of light and shadow. As a stone for façades, the grooved finish combines durability, visual purity and a unique artistic identity, making it highly sought after in modern architecture.

Custom stone elements – floors, cladding and stairs

In addition to the façade, we produced a range of tailor-made architectural components for the villa, including:

- stone stairs, crafted to measure,

stone flooring with a finely honed finish suitable for interiors and exteriors,

- stone cladding for balconies,

- various details such as stone thresholds, frames and exterior trims.

All elements — the stone flooring, façade, stairs and additional cladding — were crafted using a combination of traditional hand-finishing and modern machining techniques. This ensures precision, durability and perfect integration with both the villa’s contemporary architecture and the Mediterranean character of Brač.

Authenticity, craftsmanship and modern design

Our workshop specialises in custom stonework, producing stone stairsstone claddingstone floors and bespoke architectural solutions for both interiors and exteriors. Every project emphasises authenticity, craftsmanship and visual harmony with the design concept.

This project in Sutivan demonstrates how natural materials such as Brač stone, shaped by skilled stonemasons, can become the foundation of contemporary and elegant architecture — whether used as stone for façadesstone stairsstone floors or carefully detailed stone elements.
