Family Kurtić Tomb

- the Family Kurtić tomb, made of white Brač stone, represents a perfect balance between traditional stonemasonryand modern design. Although modest in size, this tomb stands out with its refined proportions and distinctive contemporary interpretation. The main feature is the headstone constructed from two separate stone blocks. The void between them forms the shape of a cross, creating a powerful symbolic and spiritual presence. This minimalist composition transforms a sacred symbol into a modern artistic statement, where the cross remains incomplete yet immediately recognisable. Through this subtle gesture, the design achieves both depth and emotional resonance. The stone surface is finely bush-hammered, giving a matte texture that softens the natural light and emphasises the purity of the Brač stone. The entire structure is designed with intentional asymmetry, yet the balance is restored through careful proportioning and alignment of elements. A turned stone vase with a rounded form introduces a gentle contrast to the geometric lines of the monument. Crafted using stone-turning techniques, it completes the harmony of the composition while adding an elegant sculptural accent. The Family Kurtić tomb is a refined example of modern tomb design, where craftsmanship, symbolism, and material merge into a single expression of timeless serenity. It embodies the essence of Brač stone artistry, bridging tradition and contemporary aesthetics in perfect equilibrium.
