Tomb of the Šodan Family

- the Šodan family tomb is one of the most beautiful and technically demanding works created in our workshop. From the first glance, it is evident that this is a unique and artistic approach to tomb design, combining architectural precision and sculptural creativity in stone. At the heart of the composition lies a stone dome, the most striking and dominant element of the tomb. The dome appears to be formed by an intertwining of flowers and leaves, creating a light, organic structure. What makes this feature truly exceptional is that it was carved from a single block of stone, with each petal and leaf shaped by hand with remarkable skill and sensitivity. Crafted entirely from white Brač stone, the base (plinth) of the tomb has a massive yet refined presence, serving as a subtle foundation for the dome. Its slightly slanted edges emphasise the central form, while the minimalist engraving of the family name adds a touch of quiet dignity and balance. This tomb was created in collaboration with architect Ivanka Filipović and represents one of three architectural and sculptural memorials made by our workshop at the Brela cemetery. Positioned side by side, these three tombs form an impressive visual ensemble, standing out through their bright white colour, size, and modern design. The Šodan family tomb attracts attention with its beauty, harmony, and unique sculptural character. It is a testament to how stone craftsmanship and artistic vision can transform the creation of a tomb into a true work of art — a lasting symbol of elegance, craftsmanship, and emotion.
