Family Arković Tomb

- this tomb, created for the renowned Arković family from Dalmatia, symbolically unites the sea and stone — two essential elements of their heritage and tradition. Generations of fishermen wanted their tomb to serve as a lasting tribute to their connection with nature, motion, and freedom. Made from white Brač stone, known for its durability, purity, and light, the tomb exudes elegance and serenity. The wave-shaped surface represents the sea wave in the moment of its creation — when water begins to rise and move, just like life itself. This poetic form has been transformed into a headstone, where stone seems to come alive in motion. The tomb’s creation demanded great craftsmanship and precision. Each curve and transition was hand-carved to achieve perfect softness of line. The edges of the wave remain roughly carved, evoking sea foam, while the rest of the surfaces are finely polished — smooth as calm water. On the central plate, slightly rising toward the wave, are engraved lyrics by Oliver Dragojević, celebrating the sea and the fisherman’s life — adding deep emotion and identity to this white Brač stone tomb. Designed by Dražen Jakšić, owner and director of our workshop, this tomb harmoniously connects the sea, stone, and human emotion. This is more than a tomb — it is a work of art, symbolising life, movement, and continuity. The wave of stone embodies the Arković family’s spirit: strong, unbroken, and forever in motion, like the sea that shaped them.
