Tomb for family Čečavac
- the construction of a grave from white Brač stone is always a union of masterful precision and artistic form. This large grave, made from massive stone blocks, immediately conveys an impression of elegance, strength, and permanence. The surface of the grave has been stylised to evoke the image of a restless sea and rolling waves. The stone is not cut into strict lines but into soft, dynamic curves, bringing movement and vitality to the solid form. On the highest wave, perforations have been carved – openings that are fully functional and designed to create a striking play of light. Beneath this wave-inspired surface are recesses for candles. When the candles are lit, their light shines through the openings in the stone, producing a unique atmosphere. At night, the grave transforms into an almost sculptural presence – flame and stone merging into a powerful symbol of remembrance and eternity. Particular attention is drawn to the vase at the front of the grave. Crafted from the same white Brač stone, it is shaped as a vertical cylinder, contrasting with the wave-like surface of the monument. This interplay of circular calm and flowing movement creates balance, while the vase, though functional, also stands as a sculptural feature that completes the design. The execution of such a monument demands great skill and long experience in stonemasonry. Every detail – from the massive slabs to the perforations and recesses – has been crafted with the highest precision. White Brač stone, renowned for its beauty and durability, gives the grave its noble and solemn character. This grave is proof that the creation of a headstone can transcend utility and become a true work of art, reflecting nature, emotion, and personal legacy.
