Family Kržanić Tomb

- this tomb made of Azul Makauba stone is one of the most distinctive pieces in our collection – remarkable not only for its material value, but also for the emotional depth behind its creation. Azul Makauba is a rare Brazilian stone, known for its blue-grey colour and flowing natural patterns reminiscent of the sea. This symbolism guided the family’s choice of stone, as they sought to find the colour of their late son’s eyes. Thus, this tomb is not merely a monument, but a personal story carved in stone – a place of remembrance, sorrow, and everlasting love. Every line and surface reflects care, respect, and craftsmanship of the highest order. The execution was highly demanding – Azul Makauba requires precise cutting, polishing, and assembly to preserve its natural depth and crystalline beauty. The headstone, designed in two parts, conveys a modern and symbolic form: one section features a curved cut-out symbolising absence and loss, while the other stands strong and solid, representing endurance and permanence. All surfaces are highly polished, while the stone profiles are clean and balanced, giving the piece a sense of calm monumentality. Two symmetrical stone vases frame the front of the tomb, adding subtle harmony to the design. The project was created in collaboration with architect Rožić from Makarska, and executed by our workshop specialising in tomb and headstone craftsmanship. The result is a unique monument where stonemasonry precision, architectural vision, and human emotion come together in a timeless expression of beauty and dignity.
