Our stone-carving workshop proudly presents its latest completed work: a stone bust – an elegant and precisely modelled sculpture created by our sculptor Lovre Jakšić. This stone bust was commissioned as a special gift for the client’s business partner and will be placed on a private estate. It is a project that unites the tradition of stone portraiture with the needs of contemporary clients, proving that figurative sculpture is still crafted today with the same respect, precision and artistic dedication as in the past.
Creating a portrait in stone is an exceptionally demanding process. To ensure authenticity, the first step is modelling a clay portrait based on photographs and measurements. The clay model is then translated into a plaster negative, from which a plaster model is cast – a faithful representation of the future sculpture. This plaster model is essential for the pointing technique, a traditional method in which precise reference points are transferred from the model onto the stone block. Thanks to this process, the stone sculpture achieves perfect proportions and finely executed details, especially in the area of the face.
The bust is carved in white Brač stone and placed on a stone pedestal, also produced in our workshop. The front of the pedestal features a hand-carved family crest, a personalised detail that transforms the bust into a unique and lasting gift.
Our sculptor Lovre Jakšić has created numerous busts – from private commissions to public monuments dedicated to historical figures, cultural personalities or poignant life stories. This new stone bust is yet another confirmation that a personalised stone portrait can be a remarkably dignified and valuable gift.
If you are considering commissioning a sculpture or a custom-made bust, our workshop is at your service.
