Scratched stone facade – contemporary elegance in white Brač stone

Grooved façade – an award-winning stone façade for contemporary architecture

Jakšić Stone Workshop proudly presents another completed project that highlights the quality and recognisability of our work: the grooved façade, an original stone façade cladding developed in our workshop and today widely used in modern architecture.

The grooved façade is a unique wall cladding made from white Brač stone, processed with a distinctive rough-scratching technique. Each panel features a pattern of longitudinal lines and grooves that create a rich, tactile surface. This texture is what makes our stone façade visually dynamic and architecturally refined.

When an entire façade is covered with this stone, the result is a play of light and shadow that changes throughout the day. In the morning, the lines appear soft and subtle, while in the afternoon the relief becomes stronger and more sculptural. This visual identity earned the grooved façade an award for best architectural stone design.

Our stone façade has once again been chosen for a contemporary luxury villa in Sutivan, designed by architect Sanja Koren Veljačić. The investor selected our grooved cladding for its elegance, durability and authenticity. Collaboration with both investor and design team was excellent, resulting in a contemporary and refined Mediterranean architectural expression.

The grooved façade has thus become a signature feature of our workshop — a stone façade that successfully combines the tradition of Brač stone craftsmanship with modern architectural trends. In Mediterranean environments where natural materials play a key role, this solution offers durability, beauty and a unique visual character.

If you are looking for a stone façade that brings together authenticity, design and longevity — the grooved façade is the ideal choice.
